Besides establishing his own art collection, which has grown to be very impressive, Baryn Futa also holds memberships in many prominent art museums with impressive collections of their own, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim, and The Jewish Museum. When he can, he also loans his pieces to museums because he wants more people to appreciate and want to preserve art. As Baryn Futa sees things, art is a key element of every human society, which means that art should always be supported and protected, it is too often reality that art is taken for granted and not seen as a priority.
What drives Baryn Futa as an art lover and a major benefactor is perhaps his impression that great artists see too little appreciation and too often don’t make enough to thrive. That’s why he expends so much time and effort trying to alleviate that situation. He may be making up for lost time, since it wasn’t until he retired and began working with the Denver Art Museum that he began to fully appreciate the importance of fine art. At DAM, he cultivated his new-found love of the arts and art history by attending art fairs and museum exhibitions and anything else he could find.
